There’s no minimum age to take flight lessons with an instructor in a dual-controlled aircraft.
However, we recommend not starting until 14 years old, depending on the student’s size and maturity.
You can begin learning the basics and even log flight time toward a future license.
What’s the minimum age to get a pilot license in the U.S.?
Student Pilot Certificate age 16 (14 for gliders and balloons)
Private Pilot License (PPL) - age 17
Recreational Pilot License - age 17
Commercial Pilot License - age 18
Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) age 18
Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) age 23 (21 with Restricted ATP)
Is there a maximum age limit to fly? No. There is no upper age limit to fly as a Private or Recreational Pilot. However, commercial airline pilots must retire by age 65, according to current FAA rules.
Can older adults learn to fly? Absolutely!
Many people begin flight training in their 40s, 50s, 60s, and beyond. As long as you can pass the required medical exam, it’s never too late to start flying.

Ytsera Air has a fleet of well-maintained aircraft perfectly suited to flying training or for general hire. The diversity of aircraft types available ensures students gain experience with a wide range of aeroplanes used in general aviation (GA) organisations all over Australia.

Becoming a Private Pilot is your gateway to aviation.
The day you’ve completed your exams (the written, oral, and flight exams) your life as a Private Pilot begins. The possibilities are endless: from touring Vermont’s beautiful skies on the weekends, to launching a career in Aviation. The sky is the limit.
You’ll work with our CFIs (Certified Flight Instructors) to complete the aeronautical requirements and prepare for your exams with the FAA. Each lesson will build on the last as you progress towards your goal.
Training in Vermont is special - it’s both stunningly beautiful and also presents some real challenges in weather, mountainous terrain and remoteness. You’ll fly to neighboring airports, and also to neighboring States as you go through your course of study.

The minimum requirement is 40 hours of flight time, though most students complete their training in 55 to 60 hours.
It can take place over the course of a few months, or up to a year and a half.
We recommend scheduling as consistently as possible - it will help you as a student!
PPL is offered as an all inclusive package for $14,497.00 USD
Hourly Rates are $185 wet for our Cessna 172N and $149 wet for Cessna 150K.
$60 p/hr for instruction
This includes 60 flight time hours and all materials.
Must be at least 17 years old by the time of the final checkride.
Obtain at least a third-class medical certificate from an FAA-authorized aviation medical examiner.
Language Proficiency - Have the ability to read, speak, write, and understand English, as it's the international language of aviation.
Basic Knowledge - While not mandatory, having foundational knowledge of aviation through self-study, online courses, or preliminary Ground School can be beneficial.
Commitment - A genuine interest in aviation and a commitment to the training duration and requirements.
Documentation - Valid identification, such as a passport or driver's license, to verify identity and age.
